What If This Was Your Life?

What If This Was Your Life?

It’s Election Day — so much is at stake for our country and its people. But as you know, this is not a political podcast. So for today, my plan was to give you a little comic relief by inviting on two hilarious, outspoken, brilliant women. Frances Callier and Angela V. Shelton are real life best friends who met at the world famous Second City Theatre and became what we know today as FRANGELA.

But what I thought would be a funny, entertaining conversation — oh and it is — became so much more. We talk mental health, “cancel culture,” why Frances wants to confront Val Kilmer and one of the most important questions you could possibly ask yourself.

Our chat is lively, it’s super fun and it’s a huge opportunity to learn and grow — something as a woman nearing 50, I hope to do each and every day.

About Frangela: You may recognize this genius duo from NBC’s “Bring The Funny,” or  “I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.” They were featured on The Oprah Show on the “Best Standups in America” episode. They are well known for their commentary on VH1’s Best Week Ever and hilarity on the big screen in the hit films He’s Just Not That Into You and Slow Learners. They are also recurring fan favorites on HULU’S Quick Draw.

Currently, they are appearing on The Sexy Liberal Virtual Tour, go to SexyLiberal.com for tickets. Listen to their podcasts “The Final Word” and “Idiot of the Week” where you find all your favorite podcasts.

Found in Transition

Found in Transition

Meet Dr. Paria Hassouri, a pediatrician, mother of three, transgender rights activist, and author of Found in Transition: A Mother’s Evolution During Her Child’s Gender Change. I met Paria in 2019 while my family was going through our own transition, when one of our children came out as transgender.

Paria and her family were a little bit ahead of us, going through a transition of their own with their teenage daughter. Now while you may not be familiar with transgender children or transgender issues and challenges, Paria’s story is universal to any mom, really any human, who at one time believed that life would look one way until a bomb is completely dropped. Through Paria’s story, you can feel her slowly begin to grow, find acceptance and express the unconditional love that was always within her.

But it wasn’t pretty and it wasn’t easy.

What the Heck is Human Design?

What the Heck is Human Design?

What is Human Design and how can you use it to become the most successful and fulfilled you?

According to today’s guest, Human Design Reader, Certified Coach and Podcaster, Kelsey Abbot, Human Design is a system that combines astrology, the chakras and the Kabbalah Tree of Life.

Kelsey adds, “This is how I describe it: Years ago, your soul got called to Earth School, but before it enrolled, it selected your blueprint, your style and a whole bunch of gifts. And then it decided exactly when and where it would come to Earth. Human design allows us to see all the choices your soul made for you.”

Stop Beating Yourself Up!

Stop Beating Yourself Up!

Welcome to our very first episode of Thrive in 40, a quick tip to kickstart your week in 40 seconds or less.

In this episode, Psychotherapist Stacy Kaiser shares her top tip to help us boost self esteem, motivation and feel happier. We all want that, right?

I find that women have a bad habit of beating themselves up. They proverbially take the baseball bat and beat themselves up if they’re not happy with themselves. And what that actually does is it lowers your self esteem, impacts your ability to be motivated, and it will ultimately impact your overall happiness. So the important thing to do is to tell yourself, okay, I don’t like what I did, make the necessary changes so you don’t do it again, and then focus on moving forward with your life.
